Neglects

The afternoon,
Walked into the sullen parlor
    where my dog slept
        soundly in his nap.
A sharp caution was caught
    in his sheer movement
        of only the head.
One glimpse pictured temporarily
    with the sullen figure
        of that cautious call.
His relief did not come
    too quickly with the recognition
        of the intruder’s identity.
The picture made had been
    discarded with the other’s
        sheer turning of neglect.

The way back,
Another glimpse failed
    to catch the meaning
        of my dog’s returning neglect.
